Characterized by its dark brown color, this expression is infused with traditional Icelandic dark rye bread, Rugbraud. Characterized by its dark brown color, rugbraud is a rich and dense geothermally baked Icelandic bread made solely with rye flour (Rye being one of the few plants that will grow in the wild Icelandic climate). Traditionally steamed in underground pits, we bake each loaf for 24 hours before macerating it with batches of Brennivin for two weeks. Paper filtered at room temperature to remove the residual solids, the result is a truly unique dark rye infused aquavit, and the perfect combination of two traditional Icelandic flavors.
