Another excellent offering from Camus in their series of Cognacs looking closely at Île de Ré, a small island off the coast of Cognac. The island still lies in Bois Ordinaires region. For its first maturation, the eau-de-vieux is aged in a cellar on the island, giving it a coastal element, which is extremely interesting when paired with the sweet, fruity elements of Cognac. It is then placed in old barrels for a second maturation, giving it dignified notes of oak paneling and woodspice. There is a remarkable smokiness in this Cognac, that does not often occur in brandies, adding another layer of complexity. A wonderful testament to the power of terroir.

Eye: Light gold.

Nose: Complex and spicy, with vanilla and a bit of smoke.

Palate: Fruitiness of dried grapes, hints of orange that define the flavor profile, and the sweetness of caramel combine beautifully with salt.
